Party!!!, Purposefully Creepy Mansion, Wednesday Evening

It was Halloween, and after a long four-year break, it finally meant that there was a party at the mansion again. There were Jack O'Lanterns outside lighting the way to the house, and bat cut-outs and balloons in the shape of ghosts and skulls all around the house, and creepy looking candy on the snack table.

And a bloody goblin in the fridge. This time, it had a name tag identifying it as April, because Mike was a sentimental fool.

There were also way too many kind of jello shots. And too many versions of Monster Mash on the Spotify playlist for this party, but at least Mike had made a sign with instructions on how to find the playlist and add songs to it.

"I don't think so," Verity said, batting her lashes as him. "I mean, not so much that I can't stand to hear it again."

She reached for his hand and spun, beads and fringe tinkling as she moved and ended up curled up against Liam's chest. "Hey there, mistah," she said, affecting a 20's accent. "Gotta light for a moll with all the legs?"

"Hey, Zack." Miguel reached up his fist for a bump. "This is the outfit?"

"Hey Miguel," Verity said, grinning up at him and giving him a saucy little 20s salute. "Thanks! Does it lose me points if I say this is one of my competition dresses?"

"In black instead of purple, but more or less," Zack agreed, reaching in for that fistbump. "This is my actual uniform. SOLDIER 1st Class black. But all it would really take to change my rank up is this same sort of jumpsuit in a different color."

Éponine laughed. "Why, thank you, monsieur! D'you know, I keep forgetting about the holiday, and that's funny, isn't it, what with the post office itself trying to remind me all month long? I s'pose it's more that it sneaks up on me every time. It was the best I could do last minute, at least as far's I could think of anything. It's not half as impressive as some of the others -- you're quite dashing looking yourself, and who knew Monsieur Mike had legs that nice?"

Seriously, that goddess outfit was impressive.

No one could ever accuse her of a lack in self-confidence.

"Nice jacket."

She was...pretty sure she had one just like it.

She had...a lot of leather jackets.

And there was Liam, a couple of purple Jello shots in hand, one of which he held out to Octavia.

"Didn't expect to see you here," he admitted, where 'here' was 'the party in general', because the shadowy corner itself fit entirely with what he knew of her.

"Old-time future," Summer agreed with a nod, striking a pulp-worthy pose with her dumb little plastic gun that seemed especially ridiculous when she had a real blaster at home, but that was kind of the point. She chuckled a little, shrugging out of the pose. "I thought it would be kind of ironic, or whatever. I like your costume, too. Simple, effective. Iconic, really."

"Something I saw in a movie," Amaya offered by way of explanation, turning to show the pack off a little better. "It's supposed to help...take down ghosts, I guess. This one doesn't do that, but I can get it to shoot a pretty impressive bolt of electricity out of it."

She was...especially proud of that one; electricity was still delightfully novel for her.

Don't do the eyebrow thing, Beau. It looks ridiculous. Don't -- sigh.

"Good enough reason to stick around, if you ask me. And what the hell are these?" She waved the empty jello shot cup with one hand, pointing at it with the other, looking totally blown away and only part of that was the alcohol. "I mean, besides awesome."

This was going to make gelatinous cube encounters so weird later.

Prone to breaking. Amaya made a note of another challenge for herself in this particular project, though, to be fair, prone to breaking was never a problem any of her weapons had ever had.

"Now that," she announced, "I can definitely work with. I'll see if I can start scribbling out some designs in the next few days, start planning my materials, all that good stuff, and I'll get right to it. You've got great timing, I don't really have any big projects at the moment,and I was just starting to get itchy about it, too."

"I sure understand itchy," Zack replied with a crooked little smile. "Is there anything else you need from me in the meantime to help you do this? I have some slotted armor, if you want me to pull it out so you can inspect it? I can bring it over to the forge for you sometime?"

"Not if you ignore the fact only this jacket's new," Miguel said, giving her a grin and a shrug. "It was sort of last minute." He nodded at her outfit. "Is Liam matching? I haven't seen him yet."

"Oh, that would be great!" Amaya admitted, especially since she'd been working on an awful lot of weapons lately. It wasn't a bad thing, not by a long stretch, but armor was nice, too! "I'd love to see it, it's always good to explore different styles, things like that. And I literally live at the forge, too, so whenever you get a chance, you're welcome to just swing on by."

Which was excessively long, even for her Turk duties.

"I'll make a point to, then," Zack replied with a smile. "I have a lot of spare equipment just kind of sitting around, and I can probably bring something in that you can just demolish if you want to. I don't use most of it, anyway. It just takes up space."

At least he had very impossibly spacious pockets?

"Not on me, doll," Liam said, trying for a gangster-y drawl of his own. It didn't work terribly well, mostly because he was fighting a grin the whole time. "I do have these, though?" he offered, snagging a couple Jello shots off the table with all the drinks and snacks.

"So far, so good," Rosa said with a suggestion of a pleased smirk. "If radio and a little sweep of the area earlier's anything to go by, we've even had two of them fall victim to a trap already."

The most adorable one, at that.

"They all seemed pretty into it, too, so...I think it's going to be an interesting week."
