Party!!!, Purposefully Creepy Mansion, Wednesday Evening

It was Halloween, and after a long four-year break, it finally meant that there was a party at the mansion again. There were Jack O'Lanterns outside lighting the way to the house, and bat cut-outs and balloons in the shape of ghosts and skulls all around the house, and creepy looking candy on the snack table.

And a bloody goblin in the fridge. This time, it had a name tag identifying it as April, because Mike was a sentimental fool.

There were also way too many kind of jello shots. And too many versions of Monster Mash on the Spotify playlist for this party, but at least Mike had made a sign with instructions on how to find the playlist and add songs to it.

Still more experience than Liam had, which was that one trip on Retro Rail Lines which had really been more about keeping Sandoval alive long enough to have him go on trial in front of the Atlantic National Alliance.

"Nothin' but the best for my best girl."

"That second 'best' right there's got me wondering how many girls you got there, bub," she said, poking him in the chest. "You're not some kinda two-timin', uhh..."

Give her a second while she attempted to remember a good insult.

"Louse!" Yeah, that seemed old-timey enough. "First you vanish for weeks and tell me you was a cat and now you're rankin' me among your other girls?"

Verity was having a marvelous time being utterly ridiculous.

"Ey!" Liam said, attempting a facial expression that was totally supposed to be one of offense. "It's just an expression, I swear!"

"It'd better be," she warned him. "Or you'll be seein' how well you swim in the Bay with a pair of cement boots!"

"I look terrible in cement," Liam drawled. "Doesn't suit me at all, babe."

"Then you'd better play nice with me, babe," Verity said, and leaned up to kiss him.

"I'll save the naughty for when it's just the two us."

His innuendo skills were kind of terrible, but at least his kissing was up to par?

Yeah, but even terrible, it was working for her.

She drew out the kiss as long as she could while still being respectful of being in public - and then a little longer than that.

"Mmmm, sounds like you've got a fun evening of tricks and treats in store for us when we get home."

Errr, back to her apartment. Yeah.

Yeah, there was definitely a Talk looming on the horizon, the way the two of them kept referring to Verity's as 'home' without even consciously thinking about it.

But for now? He was just going to lean over and whisper in her ear a little teaser as to what those tricks and/or treats might be.

Verity quirked her eyebrows up at him, and leaned a little closer so she could press herself against him. "You know, if you wanted to leave, you could have just said so," she teased with a breathy laugh.

"You were so pleased with the matching costumes," Liam said with a smile of his own. "Far be it from me to admit all I wanted to do was take yours off."

Plus he really did want to actually try and be social and meet more people! He swore!

And there was even a new guy to meet and try not to freak out with dire warnings about how weird the island could get!

Verity...well, she was successful at about half of that.

"So you're saying that's not a bottle of moonshine in your pocket?" she asked.
