Party!, Purposefully Creepy Mansion, Thursday Evening

It was once more Halloween, and the island had finally calmed the fuck down again.

Well, mostly. The Jack O'Lanterns outside in the yard lighting the way to the house occasionally laughed in a PG-rated creepy fashion, and bat cut-outs flew around the ceiling above the partygoers' heads, and the black cats printed on the sides of balloons flicked their tails back and forth and sometimes hissed at people when they went by.

And because it was tradition, there was a bloody goblin in the fridge, complete with a name tag identifying it as April. Only this time, whenever you opened the door to get something, it'd tell you whatever you were grabbing was actually poison...ously delicious!

(Shut up, it was made of plastic, its punning game wasn't the greatest.)

There were also once more lots of snacks, lots of drinks, and way too many kinds of jello shots. But fewer renditions of Monster Mash on the Spotify playlist for this party, this year! So far, anyway. Mike had a sign up againwith instructions on how to find the playlist and add songs to it, so that may not last all through the evening.

Kitty usually went to more effort for Halloween, but this year had been a little crazy and she felt like she'd be forgiven for putting on khaki pants and a matching shirt and looking like an Irwin, because she was there with a baby panda, who was the real star here.

Let's see how long it was before Lexi decided they were done!

At least until he caught what he'd said, and looked up at Kitty instead. "Should I maybe not be saying that around the baby?"

Rosa caught one look at Lexi and was giving you such an annoyed look right now, Kitty.

"No," was all she said.

But anyone fluent in Rosa would know that what she was really saying was stop making me think things are cute, you evil, terrible woman.

"No to the costume, or the baby at the party?" Kitty asked.

Rosa narrowed her eyes at Lexi, holding out a finger to her, knowing full well she'd be a little disappointed if that finger didn't get panda-grabbed. "No," she said again.

And then she turned away from the horrible cuteness to look at Kitty. "You know, this is pretty much the only place where I'd ever say, 'yeah, sure, it's totally cool you brought your baby to a party.' Especially considering we got murder clowns yesterday."

"Mostly I wanted to show her off but I am also pretty sure baby pandas counteract murder clowns," Kitty said.
