Mostly Just Weird, Not that Creepy Mansion on Phoenix Way, Sunday Evening

Yet another full moon at the mansion! This was going to be completely normal, right? A certain mansion-appropriate version of normal, anyway. Right? That was what Mike was hoping for, although his optimism had been waning lately, for a few reasons.

But right now, he still had snacks and was sprawled on the couch, flipping through channels on the TV. If things were going to get crazy, they weren't there yet.

"Apparently he's a werewolf now." Be more surly, Derek.

"What."

He'd already said that, hadn't he? Just in general, he found himself saying that much more than he would have liked.

"How?"

"The island is messing with us apparently," Derek ground out.

For a second, Mike really wasn't sure how to even respond.

Then he sighed, and said, "When isn't it?"

That was rhetorical.

Derek sighed, so very put upon. "Hopefully it'll go away."

"It always does." He wasn't lying. It always did go away eventually. It was just that sometimes there were hoops that had to be jumped through before they got there. "It's, uh, it's gonna be alright."

Derek gave him a miserable look. Which was possibly his base state of being, so...

"We're not as close wherever he's from."

Poor baby.

Aww, what the hell was Mike supposed to say to that?

He shifted the snacks off his lap and leaned forward a bit. "Look, y'all are gonna be just fine. It's Fandom shit, it's temporary."

Derek just huffed at that. "It better be."

"Always is, man."

The dungeon thing had seemed like they were never getting out of it, and even that had ended eventually.

"Just gotta push through it."

"Don't change," Derek ordered. Because it was clearly that easy.

And he needed some consistency in his life.

"I'll try not to."

Yeah, he had no choice in the matter, but he could pretend for Derek's sake for a second that he did.

"Good."

Don't make him hug you, Mike. He might. He looked like he might.

Well, Mike was just going to nod.

So, at least he wasn't actively inviting a hug.

Shut up and take his hug. He was delicate and it was his first full moon as an alpha.

"Oh –– okay."

Yeah, okay, Mike could even return the hug in a pretty easy way, after a second of 'wow he's actually going for it'.

"This didn't happen."

Mike huffed out a tiny laugh. Tiny. He was sorry.

"Okay."

That was still sincere.

Derek rolled his eyes, pulling away. "Stay away when the moon comes up. I'll try to offer you the bite."

"Oh-kay. I wouldn't take it."

And he knew that wasn't really what that was about. He just wanted it out there. He liked being human.

"But, noted."

Derek nodded. "Just say that again. In case."
