'STACHE BASH, Dapper Mansion on Phoenix Way, Friday Evening

It was Friday evening and as had been promised by the posters earlier this week, that meant party time! The mansion was ready, and the mustaches were ready.

No really, there were theme-appropriate balloons.

All that was needed now were some people to have a good time.

"I don't actually get out of the office a whole lot outside of these parties and the whole three minute date thing," Tamsin said. "Of course I take advantage of the situation when I'm out and about."

Taking advantage of opportunities, yeah, when you put it that way Éponine understood, and she nodded knowingly.

"I always wondered how busy it was, being the mayor," she admitted.

"In this place? It's worse than being a cop," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes. "Every time something weird happens, that's about a week's worth of trying to get everything back to normal."

"A week! Is it really that bad?" Éponine blurted out. "Well, I suppose it is, from what I hear from customers. So many people never quite know what to do with themselves once everything's blown over. It never occurred to me that you'd have to deal with it, though."

"Yeah, yeah, my life is sad," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes expressively. "Anyway, that happens, and then somebody hosts a party, and I'm trying to figure out whether I want to bang Mike tonight or I'm going to hit on you. Which is a nice break."

. . . well, on the upside, it was nice that Éponine could have a coughing fit these days because she'd failed at drinking properly and not because she had a chronic illness.

"At least you aren't hurting for things to do. Or people, apparently." She was pretty sure she had the hang of that figure of speech by now.

Since last month, technically. She'd had an over-a-year-long dry spell before then.

"Life's been worse," she agreed.

"Good lord, isn't that the truth." It wasn't an actual toast, but Éponine did have to raise her glass to that.

Tamsin raised her glass, too, if simply because it meant precious vodka was incoming. "To getting really tanked with hot people."
