It was Friday evening and as had been promised by the posters earlier this week, that meant party time! The mansion was ready, and the mustaches were ready.

No really, there were theme-appropriate balloons.

All that was needed now were some people to have a good time.

"I'm not sulking." A beat. "And don't call me that."

"You're sulking, and brooding," Mike informed him, over a cup of punch. "You can't say it's not all very apt:"

Derek really wanted to flip him off. But that would only prove Mike right.

The bastard.

"Should I just be glad it's not an indoor pool party?"

"Probably," Mike said. "Come on, just enjoy it."

"Maybe if you covered the bottom half of your face," Derek replied. Because his humor was terrible.

"Sorry, that's the one request that's not going to be accepted tonight," Mike replied all too cheerfully. "Not unless you're Tamsin, and you're not."

That's because Derek was prettier than Tamsin.

"Stay away from open flame. It might catch fire."

"What, like your scruff so often does?"

"It's scruff because I shaved today." Yes. This is post-shave.

"Jesus, how fast does it grow?"

It had taken Mike like a week to get to this point.

"I told you." IT WAS A GIFT AND A CURSE.

"Well, mine's awesome," Mike decided, getting back on track. "But you're still welcome the snacks. And the punch."

Derek rolled his eyes, but performed a manly shoulder bump that probably showed he was less annoyed than he seemed. "Thanks for permission."

Mike returned the shoulder bump. And said, "It's Pom Selleck. The punch. Pomegranate-based."

Derek could back to hating everything.

"I hate you so much right now." Ignore how that made him smother a smile.

Mike totally saw that. And didn't ignore it. Didnd't draw attention to it, either, but he didn't ignore it.

"Hey, that one was the internet, not me!"

"There was something on the internet about mustache party drinks?"

"Uh huh." Crazy what you could find with very simple googling. "It was very helpful. We have donut vodka too, though, and that's just 'cause me and Kitty were talking about weird vodka flavors the other day."

Derek wrinkled his nose at that. "Does it actually taste like that?"

"It actually does."

And it was great.

"And not just because you've had enough to be drunk." Because someone here couldn't get drunk.

Mike waved his hand vaguely and made a non-committal sound.

Together, they became the international signal for "ehhh, it's getting there".

"I'll stick with the--" So much sighing. "--Pom Selleck."
